it's benigno "ninoy" aquino's 25th death anniversary today. i'm lucky to have been born 3 months before his tragic death in the tarmac but not lucky enough to see his heroism during his time.
i only know ninoy from the history books in my elementary and secondary years. a little story from my parents, teachers and the elderly. but who is he really?
today, as a commemoration of ninoy's unfading and unwavering love for his people and his country, I AM NINOY is launched.
I AM NINOY is a celebration of hope and idealism, a freedom movement, a community of heroes ---- heroes who give out of sheer selflessness and serve the country the best way they can.
it encourages the filipinos especially the 25 year olds and below to know ninoy more by taking part in upholding other people's lives and reaching out to people who are most in need.
indeed, it's time to play our part of being a hero in our own way.
