Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge LIVE ACTION DRAMA Overload

Ok. It's been awhile since I've posted something in my crap blogsite. Just busy. You know, work. I just recently completed my last project which is a comic book consigned to me by some college students in one of the most prestigious universities here in the Philippines. Anyway, I won't tell anything more about it. The most important thing is that I get paid while working on those stuff that I love doing. It's like both ends win.

Ummm... right. This entry is about the recently concluded Japanese drama, "Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge" or "Perfect Girl Evolution" or "The Wallflower", whatever. It is based from the manga written by Tomoko Hayakawa in 2000 which was later adapted to a 25-episode anime
series in 2006.

I got hooked on the anime first on 2008 and then later on the manga. Although, both anime and the drama were already ended, the manga is still ongoing. Right now, it is now in its 95th chapter.

There is this pop culture in Japan that either the manga or anime that make it big in terms of sales and popularity to have its Live-Action Drama counterpart, that's why, I have been waiting for YamaNade's time to come alive on the tube since the day I got addicted to the anime.

I'm not the only one waiting for it, though. A lot of fans around the world have been satisfying their cravings for the live-action by doing their own casting, Japanese version, Korean version, Filipino version, etc. And how could you confirm that, you ask? Search it in Youtube. I found them all there, seriously. And more often that not, you'd find comments of disappointments from the fans. Because most of the cast they are wishing for didn't end up playing the part.

It's good that it didn't crossed my mind to make my own casting for the YamaNade characters as well. Or else, I'd ended up frustrated and disappointed like them. =p

But I must say, after finishing watching it just this Saturday (March 20), that I love all the real casting for this live-action drama. I think they performed their roles very well. Couldn't ask for more.

The drama is a bit different from the manga and the anime. While, there are a lot of antics in the latter, the former just became more touching, more realistic and has full of emotions you could relate to. Just what I am hoping for. Because way back then, I was wondering how this anime would be like if it would be turned to drama.

It is also a relief that the main cast, Sunako, Kyohei, Ranmaru, Takenaga and Yukinojo were already 21 years old and are all studying as college students. I just can't stand it in anime that they were just 15 and they were doing stuff and encountering tough situations that adults should be the ones experiencing.

Oh, I'm starting to talk about the differences of the manga/anime from the drama, I guess I'll just have to continue telling you something about it.

Instead of nose-bleeding, Sunako-Chan's reaction to her so-called "bright creatures" is just an ordinary faint although, with Kyohei-Kun, she does it a little too differently. Because everytime, she sees Kyohei-Kun's face, Sunako-Chan would knock him off by butting him on his head. Sometimes, when she's too pissed, she would even punch him on his tummy. Of course that was all after she mumbles her famous "MABOSHI" line... =p

Noi-Chan doesn't hang-out a lot around the boarding house and the main cast, instead she has 2 girlfriends following her around. Instead of being involved all the time, like in the anime, she just basically knew about things in the house just by talking with Takenaga over the phone. But I find Noi too annoying in the series, she's just too clingy and she always act so immaturely. Just annoying. =p

New additional cast were also tossed in the drama to add spice to the story.

Don't get disappointed... Goth-Loli Sisters fanatics! They don't appear in this drama, although they have this four new middle-aged girls who appeared as their counterparts. One of them is really mean.

There is also Takeru, Sunako's little cousin (I think he's just 8 years old or something) and the son of her Auntie Mine Nakahara. His role is taking over the boarding house as its landlord while her mom is busy on her business trips around the world.

The last most note-worthy new cast for the drama is the character of Shinichou Ichidou, his name in Japanese literally means, "The one and only truth." This old man with a spunk is a cafe owner and has a very big role in helping the main cast to open up and to face their complexes in life. He is often the sparring partner and confidant of Kyohei, later by Sunako-Chan as well. I also get the clue that he has feelings for Sunako's auntie, Mine Nakahara.

Love this drama! Love it! Especially the SKULL!!! LOL!!!

By the way, in the anime, every skull to Sunako was called, "John." In the drama, however, it was never given a name. This skull also was a gift given by Sunako to Kyohei as a token of her gratitude for him when he helped Sunako's bestfriend, Yukime, in a pinch. As the drama progresses, you'll notice how this skull linked Kyohei and Sunako together until the end of the story.

Anyway, according to my research, the rights to broadcast YamaNade LIVE on Philippine TV was acquired by GMA 7. Man, now, I'm glad I watched it online as soon as it was uploaded in Dramacrazy.Net. Sorry, it's just that, GMA 7's dubbing sucks all the time. I could have just wished that TV5 (wherein the anime version was aired first) bought the drama instead. They are better in dubbing, could even match up to ABS-CBN's, if I may say.

Nevertheless, YamaNade LIVE, Ganbatte Nee and Omedetou!!!
