a picture of me

i'm rummaging on my old stuff last tuesday and guess what i saw. a self-portrait which i sketched, as the date written in the drawing, on the 18th of june 2005. this was me when i am working as a Clean-Up/In-Between Artist in Top Draw Animation.

i draw this using my mechanical pencil and then ink it with my pilot black ballpen.

in the picture, i was sporting a black shirt styled with a very long shoelace in the left side. matched with a black pants and black and white sneakers.

no wristwatch but i'm wearing a black tiger's eye bracelet and a native, black strings bracelet.

back then, i like being alone. i don't speak much to other people. notice that i'm wearing my earphones while scanning my cd player with my hair covering my whole face. it's a sign for them to back-off. i'm busy being alone.

i'm also fond of posting some of my drawings in my station. i'm also sticking the list of all the drawings that i need to work on for first-run, fix-ups and retakes in the light box/animation table.

in the animation disc, my favorite character, neil of "the class of the titans", was clipped in the peg-bar everytime it's time for me to go home. it's like he's guarding all my things when i'm away.

the heart-shaped thing at the top is actually a stuffed pillow with a built-in am/fm radio. one of the guys in my station however was always using it everytime he likes to take a nap. some of the other guys were using it to play "throw-and-catch-this-thingy" in our station.

the dog there is a stuffed doll i bought at mini-stop. i called him, "poochie". one of the senior artists then tried to kidnap him. he was already in the bag but i rescued him.

there was also my hand-outs. the folders that hold the bg, layout and the animation key drawings that i need to clean-up.

below that, my animation papers, nescafe cup and my chopsticks. a mcdonald happy meal toy, a clay carrying the toy figure equivalent of my batchmates in innov8 academy and the cds that i'm listening to. oh, there was also the controversial spongebob keychain. a lot of my colleagues were trying to arbor that yellow dude from me. one of them died last year (age 28) . up until now, i'm telling myself that i should have gave that keychain to him. anyway, sponge bob was acquired by one of my guy pals back then.

the philippine flag. i put it there to commemorate the independence day. ^.^

you could also see my output sheets, electric sharpener, plug extension, my mug, celphone, my pencils and eraser, my trash can with the rubbish in it, the coffee cup in the floor (that's not mine) and my slippers (spartan yata yan!). what else, oh, the chair i'm sitting. with my name in it.

ok. that's it. the story behind my self-portrait. what am i calling it? ummm... it's untitled.
